Rifugio Segantini

A hike of around 4 hours to the mountain hut named after the painter who hailed from these valleys

Summary of the route

A hike to Madonna di Campiglio and the surrounding area, which winds its way up the slopes of Presanella and takes you to the mountain refuge named after the Divisionist painter who hailed from our valleys.

You'll need your own car to get there

Heading up from the tarmac road, you should reach the Cornisello Mountain Hut (2,300 metres), from where you follow the Dallagiacoma guide trail, climbing an initial section up to the first pass (Pass dall’Om).

A beauty well worth the effort

The climb is strenuous and takes place over a moraine of granite debris. The landscape is typically alpine, with rugged and austere ridges; directly opposite lie the Brenta Dolomites, which, curiously, can be seen almost from above.

From the pass onwards, you find yourself in the presence of the gigantic grey pyramid of Presanella, and are often lashed by the icy breath of its glacier.

The hike continues through marshy and glacial pools, remaining at the same altitude for about an hour.
Shortly before reaching the refuge at an altitude of 2373 metres, you cross a suspension bridge suspended on steel cables

The return

For the return journey, you can take one of the two parallel paths that descend into the Valina D’amola and rejoin at Malga D’amola. From this point, you can follow the road for 40 minutes, completing the loop by returning to the Cornisello Mountain Hut.
